The population of Yakutia is approximately one million. It is a multinational republic comprised of 80 nationalities such as the Yakut, Ukrainians, Tatars, Evenks, Even and others. Such ethnic diversity follows naturally from the Republic’s history.
Two thirds of the population lives in towns and works in various fields: industry, transport, education, culture, healthcare, commerce, free enterprise. The other third of the population lives in the countryside and continues the cattle breeding, farming, hunting, and fishing traditions of their ancestors.
The mix of traditions and lifestyles creates a very colorful cultural landscape in this northern land. The people of Yakutia are very tolerant. Every nation and every religion is respected. The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is on of the most peaceful territories in Russia.
People who have moved here recently as well of those who have been here all their life, greatly respect this severe, but beautiful northern land. The people of Yakutia are generous and hospitable.
