There are people with a spirit of adventure and taste for discovery who always dream of challenging the North Pole, the South Pole, Everest, etc. These people are true travelers but are there a lot of people who visit the Pole of Cold, the place with a record negative temperature?
What does the place with such a cosmic temperature look like? 
How do people and animals survive? What happens with equipment and machinery? Why does the river still run if it is -54°C?
It is worth seeing the place and being there to get all the answers. It is time to discover this natural phenomenon.
What is extreme cold? How is it possible to survive such cold? To understand this one should visit the Pole of Cold. It is something to do at least once in a life-time. The point of absolute cold of the Northern Hemisphere is situated in Oimyakon uluss, Yakutia.

"POLE OF COLD - OYMYAKON" EXPEDITION

Duration: 9 days
Group size: 2-10 persons
1 DAY
Arrival in Yakutsk and transfer to hotel Polar Star****. Breakfast. Program in Yakutsk: city tour with the LSG ( tower of TYGYN (wooden first stockade construction built by cossak Pyotr Beketov, the founder of Yakutsk), the OLD TOWN area, old churches, visit to the Institute of Permafrost and Mammoth Museum.
Permafrost Institute
Permafrost Institute is a part of Siberian branch of Russian Academy of Science and was founded in 1961 It is a unique scientific institution researching how permafrost exerts influence over nature and life processes. During excursion in the Institute underground laboratory you will be an eye-witness of that natural phenomenon. Excursion guide is a candidate of geographic sciences Mark Shatz.
Mammoth museum
The museum was founded in 1991 as a scientific and cultural center. It is designed to study mammoth fauna and its habitat of the Ice Age. It is the only specialized museum of unique paleontological exhibits in the world. Fossils of mammoth and mammoth fauna are valuable prehistoric relicts and considered as national treasure.

2 DAY
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Tomtor with the night at Khandyga by Russian 4WD minivan, lunch at the cafes along the road, dinner at the cafe in Khandyga, accommodation in hotel at Khandyga. Automotive rout goes along the Central part of Yakutia further to the north with the crossing over the frozen rivers of Lena and its’s right arm Aldan. The road will take 10-13 hours, the length 420 km.
3 DAY
After breakfast in Khandyga transfer for the Tomtor, the route goes over the Verkhoyansk ridges, a unique road built by GULAG prisoners during the Stalinist era. 
There are carved bridges, barracks, and other remaining constructions of concentration camps. Magnificent landscapes, great mountains, fast rivers, and vast reindeer pastures, are all there for tourists to see during the journey.
Somewhere between Razvilka and Kybyme stop for a lunch with lunch boxes. Arrive to Tomtor in the evening. Accomodation in the hotel. Dinner at the hotel.
The hotel “Labynkyr”(named after the famous lake Labynkyr, in which the legends say one can see the Labynkyr monster) stand on the bank of river Kuydusun, the river which never freeses.
4 DAY
In the morning after the breakfast excursion around the Tomtor. Tomtor during the Second World War II was one of the transit airports in Russia through which planes from America were brought to the war scenes. In some days Tomtor was a home for up to 100 battle planes, who waited here for better weather. Tomtor is the settlement of compact living of EVEN people. Visit the museum of ice figures, winter houses of Chyskhan(the symbol of Cold) and Santa Clause, visit the museum of GULAG. In the evening a folk consert showing the culture of northern people. Meals all in the cafe. Tomtor is also known as the Cold starting point. From here Santa Clause and Russian Ded Moroz start their winter trips, to bring winter to people. Every year at the end of March, they meet together at the Pole of Cold festival.
5 DAY
A visit to the meteo post and the station in Tomtor. After lunch under ice fishing. Right there you can view the unique free running water, which stays there flowing even inthe severe winter temperatures. You can personally feel and learn the way people fish under the ice. The variety of fish is depends on the season. Later on transfer for the hotel and dinner.
6 DAY
After breakfast transfer to the Oymyakon. Excursion around the town where the most negative temperature was registered. Visit to the mayor of Oymyakon to recieve the certificates of visiting Pole of Cold. Lunch in the Oymyakon. After lunch visit to the horsebreeders farm to observe the unique yakut horses, that stay out through the whole winter.The Yakut horse is the descendant of the Lensky horse, which is the original horse of the north lived thousands of years ago along with the mammoths, but unlike mammoth it survived and developed till nowadays. Acquaintance with their life, possibly horse riding. In the evening transfer to Tomtor. Dinner at the hotel in Tomtor.
7 DAY
The morning transfer to Khandyga. On the way back visit the village Yuchugey, settlement of compact living of reindeer breeders. Get acquainted with their life, traditions and culture. A tourist will be given lessons how to gather reindeers, prepare them for the trip and try to learn how to sled and ride on the reindeer back. Lunch with the national food. After lunch transfer for the Khandyga. Dinner and accomodation in Khandyga.
8 DAY
After breakfast transfer for the Yakutsk. Lunch on the road at the cafe. Arrival to Yakutsk in the evening. Dinner. Overnight in hotel Polar Star.
9 DAY
Transfer for the airport. Departure from Yakutsk.
