Adventure to “Mammoth Hill”
Adventure to “Mammoth Hill” is tour-expedition for inquisitive teenagers and anyone
who interested in signs of Earth ancient life.
In Pole of Cold, in cradle of Permafrost where in primordial condition the signs of
historic past of developing live on the Earth remain you can meet with unique phenomenon
of Nature. Thanks to mighty Siberian river – Aldan – before you will open past
milleniums’ flora and fauna preserved and set in thickness of frozen for many years
soils – unbounded space for scientific researches.
Period: June – August. Duration: 11 days. Size of the group: 7 tourists.
Additional useful information: Difficulty: Medium. Length of the route: 180 km including
150 km by motor boats. A complete tourist equipment is necessary.
Program:
1st day – Arrival in Yakutsk, transfer to hotel, accommodation in hotel. Excursion
program: Over the town excursion, Museum of local history and culture, Geological
Museum.
2nd day – Excursion program: Archaeological Palaeontological Museum of Yakutsk
State University, Permafrost Institute, Botanical Garden.
3rd day – Excursion program: Buluus – Ice lake. Preparing for expedition.
4th day – Transfer along Lena river on hydrofoil ship Yakutsk – Ust-Tatta.
Expedition in Permafrost Kingdom:
4th day – Arrival to the camp. Accommodation. Meeting.
Route 1 – Ecological path “Human and environment” Hiking route on the territory of
camp (4 km). Acquaintance with medicinal herbs, ancient ways of hunting. Khagdae lake –
a unique lake where river fishes abound. Swimming, rest. Return to the camp.
5th day –The beginning of water route.
Route 2 – Excursion to the site of ancient people.Water route by motor boats (12 km from
the main camp). Excursion in “Ikhene” site – site of ancient people of Duktyai
culture (Palaeolithic period).
Route 3 – Excursion in natural park of wild nature.Water route (14 km from main
camp).Acquaintance with herbs on Baken island.
Route 5 – Arrival to Mammoth hill.Water route (60 km from main camp). Arrival to Mammoth
hill – main area of searching/researching of mammoth flora and fauna.Organization of
camp. Total day distance – 60 km.
6th day – Hiking to An-appa hollow (12 km) – searching/researching of mammoth
flora and fauna.
7th day – Hiking on Mammoth hill’s slope (12 km) – searching/researching of
mammoth flora and fauna.
8th day – Water route – return to main camp.
Route 4 – Excursion along mountain river. Water route (20 km from Mammoth hill).
Tourists visit mountain river “Khandyga”. Acquaintance with species of fishes,
visiting plantation of wild vine and great bilberry. Lunch, rest. Total day distance –
60 km. Arrival in camp, Banya. Summarizing, exchanging of impressions and opinions.
9th day – Transfer in Yakutsk on hydrofoil ship from Ust-Tatta.
10th day – Excursion program: Ethnographic Complex “Bakaldyn”.
11th day – Departure from Yakutsk.
