The Tabyk International Ethnic Music Festival
It has become a tradition to hold this festival that brings people from all over the world
to Yakutsk. The idea is to unite performers and viewers through music, and to bring the
traditions and spirit of folk melodies into the modern music environment.
The Tabyk festival is a celebration of music with concerts, jam sessions, informal
meetings, and hanging out. One can listen here to the howl of a snow storm, the whistle of
the wind, the rustling of leaves in the grass, the water rumbling, and the sound of
beating wings. These sounds are reflected in modern rock music, ancient shaman rituals,
and toyok improvised epic singing, because true music is a world of nature and the
subconscious.

Ice carving festival
The severity of the Yakut cold is known worldwide. Taking advantage of
the harsh cold environment artists have learned how to turn ice into beautiful ice
carvings. This is symbolic of the harmony between nature and the inhabitants of the North.
The International Ice Carving Festival "Diamonds of Yakutia" is a popular
cultural event that provides much entertainment. It is held annually in March. The
festival brings together ice carvers from around the world: Argentina, Finland, Japan,
Italy, Ukraine, Korea, Germany, and the Czech Republic.
The most valuable pieces of ice carving art can be kept forever, thanks to the Arctic
climate and permafrost. Specially designed natural refrigerators are used to preserve
carvings. Today, the pieces of ice carving art make a genuine art gallery. Spectators are
always impressed by the crystal sculptures, whose beauty changes with effective
lighting.
